When you have been accepted on a course of study at the University of Sunderland, you are eligible to become a member of the Students' Union and to apply for your joint University/Students' Union Campus Card.
When your place at the University is confirmed, you will be sent information from the University, which will include details of how to apply ONLINE for your Campus Card. This is your University Student ID and Library card (Library card subject to entitlement depending on the course of study)
The Students' Union are not issuing separate Union cards. Once you have applied for and collected your Campus Card, you will have automatically joined the Students' Union.
Your Campus Card will be valid for the whole of the time you are studying at the University, so you will not need to renew your card or your Students' Union membership each year. Returning students will already have been issued with a Campus Card last year, which is still valid and will therefore not be issued with a new card this year.
You will be able to collect your Campus Card from the Gateway on the City Campus on Chester Road, when you register with the University (you will be sent details by the University of your registration date and time).
You will then be guided to visit the Students' Union to register on your Campus network, your very own secure Campus network site to meet and chat to fellow students and join the many varied groups of clubs and societies. We will have computers available for you to do this short registration before we give you your Media Pack, containing your Students' Union Handbook and various information about your Union
Your Freshers GOODIE bag will be available for you to collect at the fun packed Students' Union Reception where we all look forward to seeing you there.
There will be stalls selling University clothing, games, raffles and much much more........
If you are an International Student, you can upgrade your Union membership to International Gold
The International Gold Membership Card can be bought from the Students' Union Reception in Edinburgh Building - next to the Gateway on the City Campus. When you register in the Gateway, you can also buy your membership from the Students' Union in Room 4, Level 2 Gateway.
Pip McDonald is the International/Equality and Diversity Officer and is only too happy to give you more information, Pip can be found in the Students' Union Offices in Wearbank House on the St Peters Campus or email Pip
